Lafe J. Barnett, 84, of Rockbridge, passed away Friday, April 1, 2005, at Logan Health Care Center.
He was born November 18, 1920, in Louisa, KY, son of the late William Walter and Elizabeth Carter Barnett. He is preceded in death by his wife Betty Ruth Moore Barnett.
He served in the Army and was a member of the American Legion Post #78.
He is survived by two sons, Lafe R. ?Rick? Barnett of Union Furnace and Darren Barnett of Rockbridge; three daughters, Laura Arnett, Patricia Terry Spangler and Edna Charles Gordan all of Logan; twenty-one grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one brother, Bill Hale of Wheelersburg; two sisters, Ruby Montgomery of Springfield, and Ruth Ann Lewis of Xenia.
He is preceded in death by a son, Robert Barnett; a daughter Ruby Newman; seven brothers; two sisters; two nephews; one niece.
Funeral services will be held Monday, 1 p.m., at Cardaras Funeral Home 183 E. Second St. Logan, with the Rev. Albert Edwards, officiating. Interment will be in Laurel Cemetery, Gibisonville.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Graveside military services will be performed by the Combined Veterans Burial Detail of Hocking County.
