Barton S. Holl, 90, of Logan, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Bennington Glen Nursing Home in Marengo. He was born February 10, 1923 in Logan, son of the late Barton A. and Grace Sparnon Holl. He was married to Regina Downhour Holl, who survives.
He was a retired chairman of Logan Clay Products, a WWII Army Veteran and a member of the former Immanuel United Methodist Church. Barton was a member of the American Ceramic Society, the National Institute of Ceramic Engineers and was the former President of the Ohio Ceramic Industries Association. He was Emeritus Director of Peoples Bank Inc. and a trustee of Hocking College, including a year as a chairman. Barton was a trustee of Logan-Holl Foundation and co-owner of Holl Investment Company. He was a Paul Harris Fellow and was a former member and past President of the Logan Rotary Club. Barton was a life member of the American Legion, a life member of The Ohio State Alumni Association and a member of The Ohio State University President’s Club.
Barton is survived by his daughter, Susan K. Stoltz of Delaware, Ohio; grandchildren, Melanie Stoltz of Westlake, Ohio, Melissa (Dave) Vermillion of Marengo, Melinda Radabaugh of Delaware and Daniel Stoltz of Newport, Kentucky; great grandchildren, Isaac and Eric Vermillion; a sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Holl Brandt of Logan and a special nephew, Dick (Connie) Brandt of Logan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard “Dick” Holl and cousin, who was raised in the home, Kenneth Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held 10 A.M., Tuesday, December 3, 2013 in the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, with Rev. Larry Hoffmann officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Logan, with military graveside services being conducted by the Hocking County Color Guard Unit. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, from 5-8 P.M.
