George O. Holdren

June 25, 1927 — December 1, 2013

George O. Holdren, 86, of Londonderry, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Select Specialty Hospital in Columbus. He was born June 25, 1927 in Vinton County, son of the late Otis and Sadie Speirs Holdren. George was married to Nyla Timmons Holdren, who survives.

He was a retired truck driver, farmer and a Korean Conflict Army Veteran.

George is survived by his sons, Steve Holdren of Londonderry; daughters, Cindy Sowers and Jorga “Mooch” (Rick Dayton) Peck, both of Londonderry; grandchildren, Shane (April) Peck, Wes (Leda) Holdren, Nicole (Reggie) Wax, Cody (Melanie) Sowers and Troy Dayton; great grandchildren, Asher, Arden and Acacia Peck, Vesper and Vern Holdren, Mariska and Rylen Wax and Lucy and Henry Sowers; brother, Mike (Toby) Holdren of Chillicothe; sisters, Pearl Seward of Colonial Heights, Virginia, Polly Carcon of Georgetown, Ohio and Ann Moore of Baltimore, Ohio and sister-in-law, Rhea Timmons of Chillicothe.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, John Peck; sister, Mary Smeltzer, brothers-in-law, Melvin Seward, Justin Moore, Coleman Smeltzer and Darrol Timmons.

No visitation or services will be held. Arrangements are by Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of George O. Holdren to Pleasant Valley Trinity Church Building Fund, c/o Anne Reichle, 33565 Ponetown Rd., Ray, Ohio 45672.
