Vito A. Petruzzelli

Vito A. Petruzzelli, 84, of Glouster, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. He was born December 14, 1929 in Huntington, Long Island, New York, son of the late Gaetano “Tom” and Anna Marie Boccia Petruzzelli. He was married to Waneta Whittington Young-Petruzzelli, who survives.


He was a retired veteran of the United States Air Force, known as “Pete”, with 22 years of service, during which he was stationed around the world. He was also employed by General Electric in Worthington for 18 years. Vito was a member of the Walnut Hill United Methodist Church in Columbus and was active in the Glouster United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Athens Senior Club and a life member of the American Legion. He loved country living, was an avid traveler and was a blessing to everyone who knew him.


In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Gina (Dale) Brigner of Lancaster, Anmarie (Robin) Maier of Cleveland and Julie (Carleton) Beamer of Columbus; stepchildren, Debbie Nickelson and Richard McCallen of Glouster, Cindy (Jim) Steward of Reynoldsburg and Mark Young and Bobbi Woodgerd of Glouster; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Russo and Gina (Wolfie) Wassong both of New Jersey; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom he dearly loved.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Mae Armstrong Petruzzelli.


A funeral service will be held Monday, December 30, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Cardaras Funeral Home, 30 Main St., Glouster with Rev. Rick Seiter officiating. Friends may call from 9 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. A funeral service will also be held Monday at 2:00 PM at the Walnut Hill United Methodist Church, 975 Rathmell Rd., Columbus, Ohio 43207 with Rev. Ruth Solo and Rev. Thomas Knauff officiating. Interment will be in the Walnut Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at the church.
