Daryll L. Bacus

June 19, 1938 — February 6, 2014

Daryll L. Bacus, age 75, of Logan passed away at his home on February 6, 2014 after an extended illness with his loving wife of 50 years, Judy Harbarger Bacus by his side.

Born in Hocking Country on June 19, 1938, he was the son of the late William E. Bacus and Clara Bacus Hashman.

A graduate of Nelsonville High School, Mr. Bacus attended Defiance College, and was a veteran of the U. S. Navy. He was a banker in California for many years. Upon his return to Logan, Mr. and Mrs. Bacus were owners of the Top of the Cave Campgrounds. He was President of the Ohio Campground Owners Association, President of The Ohio State Parks and Recreation Association, Honorary Lifetime Membership in the Ohio College Republican Federation, and board member of the State of Ohio Public Utilities Commission. He was also active in the local and state level Republican Party, a member of the Hocking County Board of Elections, the President of The Hocking County Tourism Board, a member of the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, member of the Hocking County Farm Bureau, and Chairman of The Hocking County Republican Party. Mr. Bacus was a member of the Hocking Hills United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the Mingo Lodge No. 0171, the Aladdin Shriners of Columbus, and the Scottish Rite. A person who always liked to stay busy, Mr. Bacus also grew retail Christmas trees and along with his wife, owned JEB’s produce market and West End Rentals. What free time he had, he enjoyed fishing, boating and spending time at his Lake Logan cabin along with beloved dog, Sam.

Mr. Bacus is survived by his brother, Francis of Nelsonville, his dear supporters, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Clark, Christal Seymour, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Bacus was preceded in death by his sisters, Madeline Kapple, Bonnie Bryson, Linda Vickroy, and Rita Bacus and by his brothers William, Clarence and Robert Bacus.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Fairhope Hospice and Dr. Doug Carr and staff.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by Cardaras Funeral Home of Logan. Burial will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery with Pastor Roland Mitchell of the Methodist Church, Officiating.
