Opal Louise Thurston

Opal Louise Thurston, 79, of McArthur, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. She was born October 29, 1934 in Vinton County, daughter of the late Theodore and Sarah Shively Sowers.

Opal is survived by her sons, Billy (Juanetti) Thurston of Roseville, Randy (Rose) Thurston of Creola and Keith Thurston of McArthur; daughters, Debbie (Glen) Ousley of McArthur, Pam (Roger) Betts of McArthur and Lisa Archey of Little Rock, Arkansas; fifteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; brothers, Otis Sowers of Wellston and Harry Sowers of South Bloomingville and a sister, Ruth Henderson of Adelphia.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Rhonda Ousley and several brothers.

Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Friday, July 18, 2014 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur. Interment will be in Bell Cemetery, Vinton County. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, one hour prior to the service.
