Melvin E. Devol

Melvin E. Devol, 76, of Nelsonville, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus. He was born December 2, 1939, in Athens County, He was the widower of the late Mary Jane Winchell Devol.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was a mechanic in the area for many years.

Melvin is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Victor Brown of Buchtel; grandchildren, Sara (Jim) Fischer of Savannah, Ga., Emily Brown of Savannah, Ga., Melissa (Chad) Elchert of Tiffin, Victor “Bud” (Sarah) Brown of Buchtel; great grandchildren, Michael Pack, Brian Johnson, Natalie Brown, Bryce Elchert and Isabella Elchert.

Mr. Devol’s wishes were to be cremated and a private graveside service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville.
