Alice Belle (Clary) Seitz, 92, of New Holland, passed away peacefully at home on August 15, 2026. She was born in Vinton County on October 19, 1933, to Jesse and Clara (Branscom) Clary. Alice resided in the McArthur/Allensville area for many years before moving to New Holland following the death of her husband, Melvin Seitz.
Alice spent most of her life caring for her family and home. She loved cooking and baking. Holiday meals at her house were a highlight for her children and grandchildren, and everyone looked forward to “Granny’s noodles.” When she wasn’t in the kitchen cooking, Alice could often be found outside tending her garden or planting flowers around her home. She loved sharing starts from her plants with family and neighbors so they could brighten their own gardens. She knew the names of every flower and the best ways to keep them flourishing.
Alice was also an avid reader. Her favorite book was her Bible, which she read many times beginning to end. She recorded the date inside the cover each time she finished reading it. During the winter months, Alice could be found working on jigsaw puzzles or enjoying board and card games with family. She was particularly good at Scrabble, and it was hard to win a game against her.
Alice’s memory will be cherished by those she leaves behind, including her children: Jesse Patterson, Robert Patterson, Kathy (Larry) Dyer, Rhonda (Norman) Weethee, and Rocky (Myra) Patterson; grandchildren: Jennifer (Jerry) Williams, Rhonda Fisher, Valerie Campbell, Angel Patterson, Rocky (Crystal) Patterson, Amy Patterson (Tony Campbell), Shannon (Mike) Nunemaker, Johnny (Danielle) Patterson, Jarod (Abby) Patterson, Hypashia (Kyle) Baxter, Clara (Brandon) Zuber, Codi Patterson, and Emily Patterson; 33 great-grandchildren: Shelby Patterson, Dylan (Nadia) and Luke (Tori) McCarrell, Annabelle (Zoe), Aidan (Josie), Elijah and Isabelle Fisher, Makayla (Harley) Price, Kennedy (Nick) Barrett, Jon (Molly) Campbell, Blake Tackett(Cheyenne Branham) , Bradley Patterson, Erin (Hunter) Butin, Sarah (Brenden), Grant, and Trinity Patterson, Corey Patterson, Braylon and Tanner Campbell, Austin and Ashton Nunemaker, Alysen (Sam) Fraser, Alex Patterson, Livia and Lincoln Patterson, Mason Dyer, Makayla and Josie Belle Baxter, Sabrina Zuber, Lillian Patterson-Fausnaugh, Naveah Boyer, Teddy and Nixon Copley; and 16 great-great-grandchildren: Aubrey Branham, Bentley and Alaina Tackett, Charlie McCarrelll, Lily, Avery and Eloise Fisher, Harley and Walt Price, Knox and Huxley Barrett, Brooks and Henry Campbell, Rilynne, Easton, and Tatum Butin, sisters: Effie (Roy) Palmer and Judy (James) Harper and numerous nieces and nephews.

Alice will be remembered for the love she showed through her cooking and time spent with her family. Her kindness, wisdom, and the memories she created with those she loved will remain in their hearts forever.
