Betty June Barney, 93, of Ray, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Jenkins Care Community in Wellston, Ohio. She was born June 20, 1932, in Dora, Alabama, daughter of the late Wilford Woodrow and Pearl Millie Yeager Harris. Betty was the widow of the late Harold Barney.
She was a former nurse’s aide, a member of Antioch Christian Union Church and the McArthur VFW. Betty took care of everyone around her, always putting the needs of others before her own. She was one of the most giving and selfless people you could ever meet, offering kindness, support, and a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Her family meant everything to her, and she devoted her life to loving them deeply, guiding them with warmth, strength, and unwavering compassion. Betty leaves behind a legacy of generosity, love, and a heart that touched everyone who was blessed to know her.
She is survived by her children, Tom Barney, Paul Barney, Christine “Chris” (Bub) Remy, Mary Ann (David) Millstead and Carol (Marshall) Coleman; daughters-in-law, Cindy Barney and Mona Barney; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews and a brother, Jesse Harris.
In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her sons, Harley and Jake Barney and brother, John Harris.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jenkins Care Community for the care Betty received while at their facility. It was truly appreciated.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, March 2, 2026, in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Pastor Gary Sollars officiating. Interment will be in Bell Cemetery, Vinton County. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 2, 2026, from 12 p.m. until the time of her funeral service at 2 p.m.
