Betty Marie Barney

Betty Marie Nida Barney of Creola passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2026. She was born May 12, 1957, in West Hamlin, West Virginia, daughter of the late Willie and Arnie Nida. Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Roger Barney.

Betty was a wonderful woman who loved and was loved by all. She retired from the Vinton County Health Department. She spent her free time reading and doting on her family.

Betty is survived by daughter, Tara (Brian) Mitchell; grandchildren, Zachary (Sylvee) Barney, Drake Barney, Dustin Cope, Madison Barney, Abbigail Mitchell, and Nathan Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Remington Barney, Brayla VanSickle, and Rhyatt Barney; and sister-in-law, Jody Nida.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her stepson, Robin Barney, and her loving brother, Jimmy Nida.

Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 6 pm on Monday, September 28, 2026, in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur. Inurnment will be in held in Bell Cemetery at a later date.
