Beverly Ellen Bennett Nevers

Beverly Ellen Bennett Nevers, 83, of Kaiserslautern, Germany passed away August 5, 2026. She was born in Logan, Ohio, November 8, 1942. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle and Max Bennett of Nelsonville, and her former husband, David Nevers of Deland, Florida. She is survived by her brother, Max V. Bennett of Prospect, Ohio and her cousin who was like a sister, Cheryl Nunnally of Nelsonville and Cheryl’s family, husband Kurt and sons and daughters-in-laws, Scott and Katie and Shawn and Rachael.

Beverly graduated from Nelsonville High School in the class of 1960 and continued her education at Ohio University. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, Cum Laude in 1964. She spent time in the states working in graphic design and illustration for the company of Rust Craft. After a graduation trip to tour Germany she always wanted to return to hone her craft of painting and to teach students painting, which she has continued to do since 1976. Many of her students have remained faithful to her and assisted in her care in some way. They are having a celebration of her life in Germany August 28th.

Beverly was a well known local artist in Nelsonville and its surrounding areas. She has completed several paintings from historic Shawnee in Perry County, but her favorite location was in her home town, surrounding the public square, and Stuart’s Opera House. Her favorite work and and most visible to the public was the front of the balcony upstairs, where she hand painted a whole strip of rose bouquets surrounded with pearls. One of her little specialties was to add something to every painting that made it unique. Next time you are there, see if you can spot a lady bug in that strip! She also has been a cat lover herself, and that carried over into one of her favorite animals to paint. She did quite well with dogs too. You name it, she could paint it, even portraits. She once saw a preacher man in New Orleans that caught her eye, so she painted him too, and he is in Nelsonville!

She loved many people in her life and they sure loved her. Keep her in your thoughts as she is laid to rest in her beloved Germany. Thanks to her local works she is remembered fondly here as well. She will definitely be missed.
