Billy O’Neal Sorrow, 91, of Lucasville, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2026, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. He was born February 1, 1935, in Commerce, Georgia, son of the late William Edward and Agness Browning Sorrow. Billy was married for 69 years to his loving wife, Marlene Bernice Kline Sorrow, who survives.
Billy proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, including service during the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Bronze Star for Meritorious Service in ground operations against opposing armed forces. He retired after 20 years of honorable military service. Following his retirement from the Air Force, he continued his career as an A&P Aircraft Mechanic with Rockwell International, where he worked on the B-1 Bomber program, later joining Airborne Express in Wilmington. Billy was a man of deep faith, a devoted Baptist, and a member of Rockbridge United Methodist Church. He was also a proud member of the American Legion in Portsmouth and faithfully maintained a 62.84-year membership with East Lincoln Masonic Lodge No. 210 AF&AM, reflecting his lifelong commitment to God through service, fellowship, and his community.
He is survived by his son, Edward Perry (Leilani) Sorrow of Azle, Texas; daughter, Carol Lynn Webb of McDermott, Ohio; grandchildren, Jared (Sara) Sorrow and Jason (Stephanie) Sorrow, both of Azle, Texas; great grandchildren, Abigail Sorrow, Logan Sorrow, Brayden Ober, Levi Sorrow, Hadley Sorrow and Finley Sorrow; former daughter-in-law, Tonya Sorrow of Azle Texas; sister-in-law, Dorothy Sorrow of Huntsville, Alabama; nieces, Kim, Tammie, Dana, Christy and Misty and a nephew, Rick.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Donald Webb and brother, William “Junie” Sorrow.
A funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Friday, July 31, 2026, in the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, with Pastor John Williams officiating. Interment will be in New Fairview Memorial Gardens, Rockbridge, with military graveside services being conducted by the United States Air Force and the Hocking County Honor Guard. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a masonic service being held at 7:30 p.m.
