Brenda (Kish) Mace, 72, of Nelsonville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Born July 28, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Vincent “Hook” Kish and Madelyn (Matheny) Kish of Chauncey, Ohio.
Brenda worked at Lawhead Press and eventually retired from Ohio University as a Printing Press Operator.
Those who knew Brenda knew that she never met a stranger. She was an active member of AMVETS Post 76 Auxiliary, AMVETS Post 76 Riders, VFW Post 3467 Auxiliary, American Legion Post 21 Auxiliary, Jacksonville Eagles 1034 Auxiliary, and Nelsonville Elks Lodge 543. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching football, and going to car shows in her 1965 Mustang. Brenda’s devotion to her community was shown through her giving nature and countless volunteer hours at the clubs that she was a member of. Above all, Brenda was a selfless, loving person whose infectious smile and laugh would light up a room.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Mace Sr.; daughter, Kelly Mace; sister, Linda Orcutt; and brothers, Eddie and Denny Kish.
Brenda is survived by her son, Steve (Tiffany) Mace Jr. of Nelsonville; grandkids, Lexi and Sean; a brother, Vincent (Bing) Kish of Nelsonville; her dog, Rikki; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Brenda’s life will be held from 1-4 pm on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at AMVETS Post 76, 20 Campbell St, Athens. As Brenda was an avid sports fan, the family asks that you come out wearing your favorite team’s apparel in honor of her. Arrangements are with the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St, Nelsonville.
