Charles Vaughn Denney

Charles Vaughn “Butch” Denney, 76, of Nelsonville, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at O’Bleness Hospital, Athens. Butch was born on July 2, 1949, in Columbus, the son of the late Charles Wesley and Clistia Jane (Pack) Denney.

Butch served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.  Butch was a good-hearted man and a friend to anyone. He also had an amazing sense of humor.

Butch is survived by his daughter, Nikki (Don) Staup; grandchildren, Logan Jacks, Lane Jacks, and Camden Jacks; sister, Shari (Jesse) Mash; brother-in-law, Chuck Pyett; numerous other family members; special friends, Diane Lanning and Tina Weir; aide, Brandy; and his dog, Bug.

Butch was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sandy Pyett; and brother, Mike Denney.

Family and friends may visit from 4 to 6 pm on Friday, January 9, 2026, at the Souers Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St, Nelsonville. Interment will be at a later date in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville.
