Charles Jacob West, 78, of Creola, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023, at his residence. He was born February 17, 1945, in McArthur, Ohio, son of the late Clyde Wesley and Mabel L. Andrews West. Charlie was married to Dolly E. Weaver West, who survives.
He retired from Austin Powder Company and Shelly and Sands Company and was a Vietnam War Veteran for the United States Army. Charlie was a lifelong farmer, a 1963 graduate of McArthur High School, a member of Delta Masonic Lodge #207 F&AM and the McArthur VFW.
Charlie is survived by his children, Rebecca (Brian) Manring of Zaleski, Melissa (Chris) Brenner of Wellston, Kimberly (Robert) Ward of Groveport, Mike McKibben of Florida and Brian (Jeri) McKibben of Wilkesville; grandchildren, Lydia Lenegar, Amanda Williams, Amber Thompson and Mark Cullison; great grandchildren, Carter, Cooper and Camdyn Williams and Kaylee, Aubree and Roree Thompson; sister-in-law, Marilyn West of Zaleski and several nieces, nephews, family friends and neighbors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, John William West, Martha Mae Mulhurn, Aaron West, Thomas West and Arthur West.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, May 12, 2023, in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. Jim Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur, with military graveside services being conducted by the McArthur VFW and the United States Army. Visitation will be held Thursday, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. where a Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m.
