Dana Lee Anderson, 88, of New Palestine, Indiana, formerly of The Plains, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Woodland Terrace, New Palestine. Dana was born on October 3, 1937, in Nelsonville, the daughter of the late Basil and Myrtle (Robinette) Mourne. She was married to the late John William Anderson.
Dana earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa and her Master’s Degree from Ohio University. She worked as a teacher with Nelsonville-York School District for 35 years. She was a member of the Community of Christ, formerly the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Dana volunteered at many charities and worked as a Guardian Ad-litem for Athens County Children’s court. She loved to work in her yard, travel, and be with her family including many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Dana is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Patrick William and Dava Anderson of New Palestine; grandchildren, Briar Anderson of Greenfield, Indiana and Sydney (Anderson) and Nathan Campeau of Arlington Heights, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Basil and Myrtle; husband, John Willam; and son, Christopher John Anderson.
A celebration of Dana’s life will be held at 12:00 pm, on Friday, May 29, 2026, at the Souers Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St, Nelsonville, with Cara Clifford with the Community of Christ presiding. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Family and friends may visit from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm Friday at the funeral home.
