Dante John Carter, 40, of Nelsonville, passed away on Sunday, June 1, 2025. Dante was born on February 14, 1985, to the late Renee J. Carter, two minutes after his big brother, Dwayne. Dante sadly fell into a coma in July of 2022 after suffering a stroke.
Throughout his life, especially when he was young, Dante was frequently called Dwayne and his twin brother called Dante, engraving a brotherhood like no other. Dante, like most youths, was involved in various sporting activities; baseball and football to name a few. Dante was an active young man, and he was most proud of becoming an Eagle Scout when he was a teenager. After graduating from High School, Dante enrolled in Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. It was at Ohio University where Dante would arguably have “The Best Time In His Life”. Dante was fully engulfed in college life and participated in different clubs and other activities. Dante was so active and loved by all that he met that he was voted King of the University one year. Dante would say that one of his greatest achievements was graduating from Ohio University with a bachelor’s degree in administration with a minor in Pre-Law. During his time in college, he met many friends, who in time would become a second family for him.
Dante leaves to mourn his twin brother, Dwayne J. Carter; Grandmother, Irene S. Carter; Grandfather, Kenneth A. Carter Sr.; Aunt, Kennita A. Bolds, Uncle, Kenneth A. Carter Jr.; five cousins and numerous other family members, as well as his OU Family. Dante was preceded in death by his mother, Renee J. Carter.
A celebration of Dante’s life will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St, Nelsonville, with Pastor Ronald Chunn officiating. Family and friends may visit from 10 am to 12 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
