David C. Trainer

David C. Trainer, 74, of McArthur, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family and friends after an extended illness, Monday, August 15, 2022.  He was born March 7, 1948, in McArthur, Ohio, son of the late Claire Trainer and E. Maxine Pendleton Hayslett.

Dave was the owner of JR’s Bar and McArthur Carpet.  He was known as the “Grand Poopah” of the 5 o’clock coffee club.  Dave was an avid Vinton County Vikings sports fan and deeply cared for his community.

He is survived by his son, J.R. Trainer of Chillicothe; brother, Ronnie “Junie” (Linda) Trainer of McArthur; half-sisters, Sandy Trainer Conn and Kim Trainer Caudill and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Anna Marie Saunders.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Thursday, August 18, 2022, in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. Jim Taylor and Rev. Jerry Griffith Jr. officiating.  Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
