Debra Newman

Debra Newman, 67, of Buchtel, passed away at her home on Friday, February 27, 2026. She was born on February 24, 1959, in Nelsonville, daughter of the late John Nicholas and Imogene (Woodruff) Newman.

Debra retired from AAA in Athens. She attended The Village Church in Buchtel. Debra was an animal lover and loved to travel all over the world.  She was also very talented at many, many different things including the latest technology.

Debra is survived by her sisters, Prentice (John L.) Sullivan of Buchtel, Rosemary “Podie” Swart of Buchtel, Cindy Lee (Jim) Hutchings of Columbus; brothers, Carl “Mickey” (Nancy) Newman of Pearland, Texas and Thomas Newman of Pearland, Texas; sister-in-law, Joan Nemwan of Columbus; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews; and special cat, Zander.

Debra was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Letitia Newman; and brothers, Paul Edward Newman and Robert (Sue) Newman.

A graveside service will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements are with the Souers Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St, Logan.
