Dexter Douglas Conrad, 71, of Nelsonville, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Mt Carmel East, Columbus. Dexter was born on May 10, 1954, in Nelsonville, son of the late Paul and Marcia (Dexter) Conrad.
Dexter was an avid sports fan, especially of the Bengals, Reds, and Buckeyes. He was a member of the Greater Works Outreach Worship Center in Nelsonville. Dexter was a graduate of Nelsonville-York High School and Hocking College. He was a retired health inspector for the Athens City and County Health Department. He enjoyed relaxing by fishing, playing cards, and painting ceramics – specifically Santa Claus figures.
Dexter is survived by his siblings, Candace Ellison of Pataskala, Toni (A.J.) Saunders of Columbus, and Mike (Mary) Conrad of Logan; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Paul P. “Big” Conrad, Brett Conrad, and Bart Conrad; and sisters, Marcia Primes, Linda McDonald, and Debbie Hinton.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville, with Pastor Ronald M. Chunn officiating. Family and friends may visit from 1 to 2 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Dexter to Greater Works Outreach Worship Center, 200 Fort Street, Nelsonville, Ohio 45764.
