Donna Jean Simmons, 86, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on September 10, 2024.
Born on November 18, 1937, in Nelsonville, Ohio, she was the daughter of Walter Carpenter and Christine Barnhart Traugh. On January 14, 1956, Donna married Donald Joe Simmons in Nelsonville, and together they shared 48 wonderful years of marriage.
Donna is survived by her brother Jeff (Betty) Traugh; sister Shelly (Mike) Otto; daughters Tina (Mark) Zinn and Kelly Ervin; grandchildren Ronald (Danielle) White, Amanda (Scott) Withrow, Shawn (Mariah) Simmons, Shane Simmons, Stacy Ervin, and Makenzie Campion; as well as 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Simmons; sons Terry, Tracy, and Clay Simmons; parents Walter Carpenter and Christine Barnhart Traugh, stepfather William 'Red' Traugh; and grandson Geoff Ervin.
Donna worked in various positions throughout her life, including at Western Electric and AT&T/Nokia, where she specialized as a circuit board assembler. In her free time, Donna loved playing cards, especially euchre, and enjoyed bingo, traveling, and trying her luck at slot machines. She also loved watching and coaching her favorite teams: the Ohio State Buckeyes, Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bulls, and the Golden State Warriors

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Snyder Funeral Homes, DeVore Chapel in Sunbury. Visitation will also take place on Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville, followed by a graveside service at Greenlawn Cemetery in Nelsonville.
