Edward "Jim" L. Dawley

Edward “Jim” L. Dawley, 100, of Nelsonville, passed away at his home on Friday, August 7, 2026, at his home. He was born on May 31, 1926, in Rome Holler, the son of the late Edward H. and Verna (Locke) Dawley. Jim was married to the late Audrey Marie (Coots) Dawley.

Jim was a 1944 graduate of Carbon Hill High School. He was a member of the Carbon Hill Christian Church. Jim was a member of the F&AM Mingo Lodge #171 for over 70 years and a member of the Iron Workers Local #172. Jim was a charter member and the first fire chief of the Ward Township Fire Department.

Jim is survived by his children, Russ Dawley, Debbie (Steve) Brown, and Jim (Carol) Dawley; grandchildren, Butch, Jennie, Michael, Don, Andrew, and Matthew; 14 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister, Dorothy Christy; daughter-in-law, Kitty Dawley; and grandson, Scott R. Dawley.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Carbon Hill Cemetery, Carbon Hill. Arrangements are with the Souers Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St, Nelsonville.
