Eloise Marilyn Rittgers, 87, of New Straitsville, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023, at the Hocking Valley Community Hospital in Logan. She was born August 3, 1935, in Nelsonville, the daughter of the late Arthur and Beatrice Pearl (Lewis) Day. She was the widow of the late Bernard Lee Rittgers.
Eloise was a loving and devoted stay at home mother. After her husband passed, she provided child care for many Logan families for 20 years. She loved her family, friends, and church family at Capstone Life Tabernacle. She enjoyed traveling and cooking for her family and friends. Eloise devoted her life to the Lord.
Eloise is survived by her sons, Keith McCulla Rittgers, Kevin Inwood Rittgers, Kelly Michael Rittgers, and Christopher Paul Rittgers all of New Straitsville; daughters, Karen (Larry “Luke”) Hamilton of New Straitsville and Kathy Sue (Peter) Flowers of Lancaster; grandchildren, Joshua, Amy, Amanda, and Elisha Hamilton, Courtney Rittgers, and Luke Flowers; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Rittgers; nieces and nephews; and special friends Stephen DeLong and all her church family.
Eloise was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Curtis Lee Rittgers; grandchildren, Karla Catherine Rittgers and Tobias Lee Rittgers; and siblings, Ethel, Gladys, Genevieve, and Robert.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 20, 2023, in the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, with Pastor Stephen DeLong officiating and assisted by Timothy Finley. Interment will be in New Fairview Cemetery, Rockbridge. Friends may visit from 5 to 8 PM Friday at the funeral home.
