Frances Garlene Nixon, 93, of Wellston, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Jenkins Care Community in Wellston. She was born on October 11, 1932, in Greenfield, Ohio, the daughter of the late John Solomon and Hazel Cloe (Fee) Gearing. Frances was the widow of Roy Wilson Nixon.
Frances was a member of the Allensville Church of Christ in Christian Union. She was also a life member of the Jackson DAV Post #45 Auxiliary.
Frances is survived by her children, Connie Osborne of Wellston and Kesslar Alan Gearing of McArthur; grandchildren, Mike (Angie) Lawhead, Mark (Adora) Lawhead, Mandy McClain, Vera McKenzie, and Christopher (Crystal) Nixon; 13 great grandchildren; and 8 great great grandchildren; sister, Brenda Graves of Ray; several nieces and nephews; and her church family at Allensville CCCU.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hazel; husband of 66 years, Roy; sister, Juanita Jenkins; brother, Donald “Butch” Gearing; and a great grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the Garrett Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St, McArthur, with Pastor Danny Minton officiating. Interment will be in Bell Cemetery, Allensville. Family and friends may visit from 1 to 2 pm, Wednesday at the funeral home.
