Fred "Bear" Eugene Bennett

Freddie Eugene Bennett (Bear), age 72, of Athens, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2024. Born on June 26, 1952, he was the son of the late Basil and Mary Bennett.

Bear was a beloved husband, uncle, and friend. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Bear was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Louise Bennett; and brothers and sisters, Stanley Bennett (Buck), Elmer Bennett, Dorothy Reynolds, and Candy Starling.

He is survived by his devoted partner, Ruth Elaine Inlow and several nephews and nieces, Robert Bennett (Jennifer), Bucky Bennett (Patty), Ernie Bennett (Lena), Donald Bennett, Maryann Atkins (James), Lisa Martin (Greg), Laura Newlun, April Newlun, Tammy Miller (Todd), Kim Reynolds, and Melissa Reynolds.

Bear will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the positive impact he had on all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by all.

The family will schedule a celebration of life at a later point in time.  Arrangements are with the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St, Nelsonville.
