Gale David Monk, 77, of Nelsonville, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2020, at his residence. He was born August 13, 1943, in Athens, County, Ohio, son of the late Gale N. and Velma Patton Monk. Gale was married to the late Judith Devol Monk.
He was a retired coal miner and a member of the Army National Guard.
Gale is survived by his son, Philip (Lli) Gold of Milan, Italy; daughters, Gretchen (Rick) Diluca of Rochester, New York, Lori (Michael) Linton of Logan, Beth (Greg) Helber of Logan and Jessica (Matt) Kunkler Shaw of Athens; grandchildren, Liam, Ariel, Christopher, Abigale, Emily, Aaron, Alexander, Metthew, Kyle, Dylan, Kelsey, Rachel, Mackenzie, Benjamin and Nathaniel; many great grandchildren; brothers, James (Nancy) Monk of Logan, Robert (Rebecca) Monk of Logan and Roger (Misty) Monk of Logan; sisters, Charlotte (Jim) Myers of Logan and Janice Fish of Napoleon, Michigan and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Derek Linton and brother, Donald Monk.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, November 5, 2020, in New Fairview Memorial Gardens, Rockbridge, with Rev. Betty Brooks officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the cemetery.
Arrangements are by Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan.
