George Stanley Markin, 91, of McArthur passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at his residence. He was born May 22, 1932, in Vinton County, Ohio, son of the late George and Opal McCathern Markin. Stanley was married to the late Mary Reynolds Markin.
He retired from Austin Powder Company, was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Korean War and was a member of the VFW Post #5299.
Stanley is survived by his sons, Ronald (Sarah) Reynolds of McArthur and Charles Markin of Kentucky; daughter, Pam (Rick) Campbell of Indiana; grandchildren, Mark (Autumn) Wolfe, L.J. Warrix and R.J. Camp; several other grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Kenneth Markin of Patriot; nephew, Joe Coleman and many other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sons, Kevin, George and Gary Markin; sisters, Ethel Poston, Anna Markin, Mary Perry, Grace Casey and Katheryn Coleman and brothers, Paul, Marvin and Gale Markin.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, October 2, 2023, in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Pastor David Peoples officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Vinton County, with military graveside services being conducted by the United States Army and the McArthur VFW Post #5299. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
