Homer Ray “Buddy” Riley Sr., 71, of Nelsonville, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. Buddy was born on January 21, 1955, in Nelsonville, the son of the late Donald and Frances (Lowery) Riley.
Buddy was stubborn and independent. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved “wheeling and dealing” guns and cars. Buddy also enjoyed listening to music, especially Elvis.
Buddy is survived by his daughter, Amanda (Trent) Patterson of Kingston; grandchildren, Anthony Riley and Cayden Patterson; great-granddaughter, Brynlee Riley; sister, Pamela (Charles) Smith; several nieces and nephews, including nieces Michelle (Jim) Hoops and Aimee and their families; and ex-wife, Karen Riley.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents; son, Homer R. “Little Buddy” Riley Jr.; brothers, Donny and Randy Riley; and sisters, Christy and Connie Riley.
A private burial service will take place in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. A larger celebration of Buddy’s life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are by Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette Street, Nelsonville.
