Karen Sue Lipp, 75, of Corning, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at the Pickering House in Lancaster. She was born on September 8, 1949, in Ashtabula, the daughter of the late Joseph and Genevieve (Day) Tamas. She was married to James Lipp Sr., who survives.
Karen was an amateur radio operator in Logan for many years, with the call sign KC8MEG. She worked as a supervisor at Smead Manufacturing Company for 36 years. Karen enjoyed spending lots of time with all her grandkids. She also liked to spend time outside in the garden and caring for her flowers, and in the kitchen cooking, baking, and canning amazing food for her family.
Karen is survived by her husband, James; sons, James (Amista) Lipp Jr. of Corning and Jason (Kimberly) Lipp of Logan; grandchildren, Jamie (Clint) Tesner, Derrick (Kayla Sowers) Lipp, James (Lindsay) Lipp III, Elizabeth Lipp, Anthony (Hannah) Lipp, Ashley (Nate) Hedges, Brian Cremeans, Erica (Jeff) Cramer, Megan (Casey) Holloway, Justin (Kalee) Lawhorn, Kassie (Clayton) Kiger, and Amanda (Wesley) Mason; 27 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild on the way; brothers, Arthur “Red” (Sue) Tamas, Bill (Karen) Tamas, and Larry (Janeen) Tamas; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Ruth Cortright.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 2 to 4 pm at the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan.
