Kenneth Eugene Remy Sr., 80, of McArthur, passed away Friday, January 30, 2026, at Jenkins Care Community in Wellston, during a short term stay for rehabilitation, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 31, 1945, in Ray, Ohio, son of the late Ralph Edwin and Sarah Harper Remy. Kenneth was married for over 47 years to the late Linda L. Gumm Remy.
He owned and operated Remy’s Mobile Homes Inc., Remy’s Auto Group, Club Vinton and various other land holding companies. Kenneth also retired from Mead Paper Mill in Chillicothe. He was a lifetime member of the McArthur Eagles AERIE 2279. Kenneth was deeply dedicated to his community, contributing to numerous charitable causes throughout Vinton and the surrounding counties. For many years, he was heavily involved in youth sports and 4-H, always striving to support young people and strengthen the place he called home. He worked tirelessly for the working family, believing in creating a better Vinton County for future generations. In his downtime, he enjoyed visiting casinos, playing blackjack, and cherishing every moment spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His legacy of service, generosity, and love for family will forever be remembered.
He is survived by his daughter, Teresa (Jack) Remy-Detty; sons, Kenneth “Bub” (Chris) Remy and John E. Remy; grandchildren, Chelsey (Brandon Bennett) Remy, Johnathon (Tiffany) McManis, Eryn (Riley) Gilson, Kenneth “LB” (Raeanne) Remy III, Johnna (Chris) Claytor, Tess (Joseph) Simmering, Heath Ousley and Brent (Maria) Ousley; great grandchildren, Jax and Kinnison McManis, Hudson, Ila and Renley Claytor, Kenneth “KJ” Remy IV, Emmalyn Howell, Owen, Elizabeth and Lincoln Gilson, Aric and Charle Ousley and baby Simmering due in April and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Kenneth was preceded in death by his grandson, Wesley Remy; brothers, Junior, Charles and Paul Remy; sister, Thelma Wallace and infant sister, Pauline Remy.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, February 6, 2026, in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Dr. Marla Haller officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Chillicothe, Ohio. Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with an Eagles service being held at 7 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the funeral service on Friday.
