Mary Theresa Wolf

Mary Theresa Wolf, 82, of Wellston, passed away Monday, September 21, 2026, at her residence. She was born May 10, 1944, in Teaneck, New Jersey, daughter of the late Lloyd Sherod and Theresa Mary Appendino Carr.

Mary was a strong, independent, and forward-thinking woman with a loving and generous heart. She had a deep compassion for those who needed care and was never afraid to stand up for others. Her kindness, determination, and wonderful sense of humor were an important part of who she was.

Mary dedicated her career to teaching children with special needs and learning disabilities in Akron, Ohio; Gallup, New Mexico; and later with Vinton County Schools, from which she retired. Teaching was more than a profession to Mary - it was a calling. She cared deeply for children facing challenges and devoted herself to helping them learn, grow, and recognize their own abilities. Her dedication earned her the honor of being named Teacher of the Year.

Mary's compassion extended just as deeply to animals. A lifelong animal lover and advocate for animal welfare, she cared for and rescued many animals over the years, especially those that had been abandoned, neglected, or were simply in need. Horses held a special place in her heart, and she devoted much of her life to their care. Her love for children and animals reflected her belief that every living being deserved kindness, patience, and protection.

She is survived by her children, Damon, Thomas, Daniel, and Irene, and Irene's husband, Scot;

grandchildren, Gabriel, Naomi, and Josh; brothers, Lloyd, James "Jimmy," and John; sister, Margaret "Stacey"; several nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Karen.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her son, Eric; sister, Kathy; and brother, Paul.

No services will be held at this time. Arrangements are by Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur.
