Michael “Mike” Owens, 62, of Lancaster, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 20, 2026, in Lancaster, Ohio. He was born May 31, 1964, in Steubenville, Ohio, to Marilyn Jane (Walker) Owens and the late Harold Wesley Owens. Mike grew up in Toronto, Ohio.
Mike was a proud member of the Air National Guard and was deeply devoted to his family. Family was at the center of his life, and he treasured the time they spent together, especially their vacations to the Outer Banks. Those trips created countless memories that his family will carry with them for years to come.
Mike was a lifelong Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes fan, and he never needed much encouragement to talk about either one. He had a great sense of humor and was known for keeping everyone laughing. Mike could usually be counted on to have a dirty joke ready at just the right—or sometimes completely inappropriate—moment.
He also enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. Among his more memorable traditions was occasionally enjoying a Jägermeister on the beach at sunrise during family vacations in the Outer Banks. Those moments perfectly captured Mike: enjoying life, enjoying his family, and doing things his own way.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Harold Owens.
Mike leaves behind his wife, Kelly Mattox Owens and his daughter, Alexis Grace Owens; a sister, Melissa Jane (Richie) Leasure; two brothers, H. Wesley "Wes" Owens and Patrick B Owens; and many other family members and friends who loved him dearly.
Mike loved his family deeply and will be remembered for his humor, his loyalty, his love of the Browns and Buckeyes, and the many memories he created with the people closest to him. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mike's wishes were for cremation, and no services will be held at this time. Arrangements are with Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 East Second Street, Logan
