Minnie Prater, 80, of Hamden passed away December 3, 2020 at her residence. She was born June 24, 1940 in Pikeville, Kentucky, daughter of the late Jesse Coleman and Pansy Anderson Coleman Stewart. She was the widow of the late Harold D. Prater. They were married 48 years.
Minnie retired from Huston’s Nursing Home after 38 years of service and was a member of Maggie’s Home Church.
She is survived by sons, Larry (Donna) Prater of McArthur, Daniel (Carol Anne) Prater of McArthur and Keith (Ella) Prater of Dundas; grandchildren, Larry Dean Prater Jr., Shawn Christopher Prater, Sarah Nicole Prater (Ray), Grace Emily Prater and Payton Nicole Prater; great grandchildren, Colton Ray Prater, Briggs Harold Prater, Urijah Lee Prater, Kayden Michael Dye, Jordan Marie Prater, and Josie Ann Ray; brothers, Odel Coleman of Indiana, Arthur Coleman of McArthur, Roy Coleman of McArthur, Bob Coleman of Wellston, Marshall Coleman of McArthur, Dean Coleman of Zanesville, Chan Coleman of McArthur and Terry Coleman of McArthur; sisters, Ester Coleman of Kentucky, Lurlie Peoples of Oak Hill and Charlene Peoples of McArthur.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Harold Matthew Prater; grandson, Matthew Ryan Prater; brothers, Elmer and Jesse Coleman; sisters, Madeline Ratliff, Irene Williams, Lois Prater, Hester Coleman, and Christine Newsome.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday December 9, 2020 at Maggie’s Home Church in Dundas. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church, from 11 a.m. until time of service.
