Myrna M. Angle

June 3, 1928 — February 28, 2023

Myrna M. Angle, 94 passed away February 28, 2023, at The Laurels in Athens, Ohio.

Myrna Mae (Wallace) Angle was born June 3, 1928, in New Straitsville, Ohio, to James Owen Wallace and Myrtle (Donley) Wallace. She graduated from New Straitsville High School in 1946 where she enjoyed playing the trumpet in the band. After high school, Myrna worked at the New Straitsville Brick Plant from 1947–1949 as a payroll clerk and bookkeeper.

She was a stay-at-home mom for 28 years before deciding to go back to school and pursue a degree in something she really loved…nursing. In 1977 she graduated from Hocking Technical College as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was then employed by Hocking Valley Community Hospital from 1977 until she retired in 1990. In 1994, she returned to the hospital to work as a volunteer for 20-plus years.

Myrna was very involved in a number of community activities including the New Straitsville Historical Group, where she served as a charter member and treasurer for many years, the New Straitsville Alumni Association, the Senior Center of Logan and the P.E.R.I. Association. She was also a faithful, longtime member and secretary-treasurer of Heavenly View Tabernacle, and in her later years, a member of First Church Praise and Worship Center.

In 1949 she married Robert “Bob” Angle and together they had five children who survive her: Jeff (Jennifer) Angle, John (Debbie) Angle, Jean (Bob) Crawford, Judy (Lynton) Turkington, and James (Suzanne) Angle. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren: Allison, Michael (Katie), Patrick (Kirsten), Morgan, Mason, Mackenzie, Adam, Nathan (Mackenzie), Emily (Ted), Andrew (Rachael), Anna (Peter), and Owen, as well as seven great-grandchildren: Bryar, Brooks, Linden, Leighton, Wells, Holden and Benjamin. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Myrna was preceded in death by Robert “Bob” Angle; their stillborn twin sons, Jay and Ray Angle; her parents, James Owen Wallace and Myrtle (Donley) Wallace and her siblings, Ralph (Clyde) Wallace, Evelyn Wallace, Frank (Margaret) Wallace, Wanda (Kenny) Martin, and Patricia (Bill) Cook; and daughter-in-law, Debby Angle.

She will be fondly remembered by those who knew her and loved her and the legacy she leaves in her beautiful family.
