Nolan H. Brunk, 79, of Logan, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 14, 2026, following a difficult health journey over the past several years.
Nolan was born on February 8, 1947, in Lima, Ohio, the son of the late Norman and Clara (Hartman) Brunk. He married Barbara Jean (Wray) Brunk on April 1, 1967. They shared 55 years of marriage before Barbara passed away on June 1, 2022. In her final years, as her health declined, Nolan lovingly and faithfully cared for her.
Nolan is survived by his children, David (Loreen) Brunk of Elida, Ohio; Tony (Audrey) Brunk of Nelsonville; Robert (Naomi) Brunk of Logan; Michael (Dolores) Brunk of Elida, Ohio; and Karen (Loren) Weaver of Logan; 26 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Sharon (Bill) Renno of Danville, Pennsylvania, Patricia (Titus) Miller of Seaboard, North Carolina, and Elaine Brunk of Logan; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Clara; his wife, Barbara; daughter-in-law, Sue Brunk; and brothers, David Brunk, Wendell Brunk, Wesley Brunk, and an infant brother.
Throughout his life, Nolan was a faithful and supportive member of the Mennonite churches in Carbon Hill, Ohio; Salisbury, Maryland; and Hocking Hills Mennonite Church, where he was a member at the time of his passing. His faith was an important part of his life, and he valued the fellowship and relationships he shared within the church community.
Nolan had a varied and hardworking career, experiencing many different trades and business ventures throughout his life. He began as a machine operator at Smead’s before starting and operating several businesses in Logan, including a welding and industrial gas supply store and a medical oxygen business. During the years he spent on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, he operated a chicken farm, worked in the electrical and carpentry trades, and served as a manager and bookkeeper for several businesses. For the final 20 years of his career, Nolan worked as a bookkeeper for Good Builders of Logan, Ohio.
Nolan was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and commitment to his responsibilities. He willingly gave of himself to provide for and support those around him. His steady presence, faithful service, and love for his family will be deeply missed, and the impact of his life will continue through the many people he touched, especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
