Nyla F. Holdren

Nyla F. Holdren, 97, of Londonderry, passed away Friday, May 29, 2026, at Jenkins Care Community in Wellston. She was born October 30, 1928, in Ray, Ohio, daughter of the late Cloyd O. and Leafa C. Duffy Timmons. Nyla was the widow of the late George O. Holdren.

She retired from Vinton County Schools as the Junior High Secretary in Allensville, was a member of Pleasant Valley Trinity Church and was an active member of the Vinton County Historical and Genealogical Society.

Nyla is survived by her children, Steve Holdren of Londonderry, Cindy Sowers of Londonderry and Jorga “Mooch” Peck of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Shane (April) Peck, Wes (Leda) Holdren, Nicole (Reggie) Wax and Cody (Melanie) Sowers; great grandchildren, Asher, Arden and Acacia Peck, Vesper, Vern and Vinton Holdren, Mariska, Rylen and Dayton Wax and Lucy, Henry and George Sowers and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Darrol and Rhea Timmons.

No visitation or services will be held. Arrangements are by Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Nyla Holdren to the Vinton County Historical and Genealogical Society, 207 S. Sugar St., McArthur, Ohio 45651.
