Paul H. “Hal” Stimmel, 87, of Logan, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2026, in Lancaster, Ohio. He was born on October 31, 1938, in Perry County, the son of the late Paul Edward and Frances Louise (Kishler) Stimmel. Hal shared his life with the late Helen J. (Geil) Stimmel, to whom he was married for 66 years.

Growing up on a farm as the eldest of ten siblings, Hal was no stranger to hard work. Throughout his career he endured extreme conditions, from working winters in oil fields in Canada and northern Michigan to making glass and repairing the glass furnaces at General Electric for 37 years. Hal was an avid outdoorsman, taking camping and fishing trips with friends and family and going on rides with his beloved quarter horse, Snippy. He was a member of the Ohio Horseman’s Council of Hocking County and served as a 4H volunteer. Hal was also a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Logan for over 50 years where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and custodian.

Hal is survived by his daughters, Tamara (Gib) Tschudy of Westerville, Paula (Troy) Hoke of Nelsonville, and Heidi Fischer of Logan; grandchildren, Emily (Timothy Fultz) Hammon, Tessa (Tyler) Mellinger, Brandon (Theresa) Graham, Aaron (Krystal) Graham, Laila Anderson, Estelle Anderson, and Thomas Anderson; great grandchildren, Ember and Reid Mellinger and Cooper and Layla Graham; siblings, Patty (Buck) Edgar of Logan, Jim (Sharon) Stimmel of Gore, Carol Henderson of Lancaster, Mary (John) Randall of Logan, and Jennifer (Greg) Godby of Logan; sisters-in-law, Debra Stimmel and Carma Stimmel of Logan; brother-in-law, Larry Mosure of Logan; and special cousin, David Kishler of Lancaster.

Hal was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Helen; sisters, Beverly Mosure and Charlotte Stimmel; brothers, Doug Stimmel and Don Stimmel; and brother-in-law, Robert Henderson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at the First Baptist Church of Logan, 399 Norwood Ave, Logan, with Pastor Lucas Mancado III and Joel Barkhurst officiating. Interment will be in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery, Logan. Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St, Logan.
