Robert E. Shinn

Robert E. Shinn, 84, of Marietta, formerly of Nelsonville, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Elison Assisted Living. Robert was born on September 14, 1938, in Monroe County, Ohio, the son of the late Dean and Ella (Palmer) Shinn. He was married for 61 years to the late Sally (Midkiff) Shinn.

Robert retired from UPS after 38 years. He also worked for Beacon School in Athens. He was a long-time member of the First Christian Church in Nelsonville.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Mary Ella (Bill) Bauer of Marietta; granddaughter, Madison (Andrew) Ryser of Augusta, Georgia; great grandson, Jack Ryser; brother, Clark (Viola) Vanest of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; wife; grandson, Grant Bauer; 3 brothers; and 3 sisters.

A private burial will take place at a later date in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Arrangements are by Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville.
