Roy “Sambo” Harman Seitz, 84, of McArthur, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born September 9, 1941, in Vinton County, Ohio, son of the late Chester Ray and Ruth Mae Inboden Seitz Sr.
Sambo retired from Alcoa in Chillicothe and was a United States Army Veteran. He enjoyed being in his garage working on cars, being outdoors and bingo.
He is survived by his special nephew, Ray “Buddy” Seitz; nieces and nephews, Sharon, Kim, Ronald, Kathy, Rocky, Tina and Tonya; several great nieces and nephews; special great great nephew, Rayden and sisters-in-law, Sandy Seitz and Nettie Seitz.
In addition to his parents, Sambo was preceded in death by his brothers, Chester “Junior” Seitz Jr., Ray “Johnny” Seitz, Melvin “Pooch” Seitz and an infant brother and sister, Vivian “Sissy” Whightsel.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2026, in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Pastor Barry Benson officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Vinton County, with military graveside services being conducted by the United States Army. Visitation will be held on Monday, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
