Ruth Orpha Whetstone Eveland Sahlin, 86, of Logan, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 11, 2021, at Grant Hospital in Columbus. She was born January 28, 1935, in Macksburg, Ohio, daughter of the late Harry B. Whetstone and Bonnie E. Fleishman.
Ruth graduated from Roseville High School and after working several years at General Electric, she then went to get her bookkeeping degree from Hocking Technical College and co-founded Hocking Valley Cooperative Machine.
Ruth is survived by her son, Matthew (Pam) Eveland; daughters, Jan (Brian) Flynn and Cinda Wilson; step-sons, Michael (Ngan) Sahlin, Joseph (Amy) Sahlin, John (Kristal) Sahlin, and James (Amanda) Sahlin; step-daughters, Mary Israsena, Patricia Ryder, Teresa (Dennis) Pullman and Carole (Billy) Adams; 38 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and 13 great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth P. Eveland; second husband, Vernon R. Sahlin; son, Mark B. Eveland; step-daughters, Barbara Moore and Catherin Sahlin; brothers, Lloyd Whetstone, James Whetstone, Harold Whetstone, and Paul Whetstone; and sisters, Opal Harper, Edith Warne, and Mary Cook.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 14, 2021, in the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St. Logan, with Rev. Bruce Livingston officiating. A fellowship gathering will follow the service at First Baptist Church of Logan. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Roseville, Ohio. Friends may visit from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home and 1 hour prior to the service on Thursday.
