Sharon Kay Popovic

Sharon Kay Popovic, 78, of Nelsonville, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Hickory Creek Nursing Center in The Plains. She was born on December 6, 1946, in Columbus, the daughter of the late Charles and Gayle (DeRoss) Kitchton.

Sherry really enjoyed her work in the legal system, but she had a creative side as well. She was a crafter extraordinaire and a master gardener at home. Sherry enjoyed reading and spent lots of time volunteering at the Nelsonville Public Library. Sherry loved her family and dogs.

Sherry is survived by her daughters, Tracy (Tim) Galway of Athens and Darcy (Andrew) Cook of Lancaster; grandchildren, Abby (Drew) Schneider, Conner Galway, and Jacob Cook; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lynda Mackey; and brother, Kyle Kitchton.

No services will be held at this time. Arrangements are with the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St, Nelsonville.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Sherry to the Nelsonville Public Library, 95 W. Washington St., Nelsonville, Ohio 45764.
