Shelby Jean Fidler

June 19, 1938 — June 29, 2025

Logan

Shelby J. (Blake) Fidler would like her friends, family, and fellow sojourners in the High Calling of Christ to know, her work on earth is done. She has genuinely fought a good fight and has kept the faith; she now resides in the presence of her First Love, in a place lovingly called ‘Home’ (known as heaven by many). Her journey to her blessed reward took place on Sunday, the 29th day of June, 2025, surrounded by family and close loved ones. It is the opinion of this writer (her daughter-in-love), she has already met her parents, Don and Adrienne (Devol) Blake, and her much-loved husband of 59 years, Roger L. Fidler. Also in attendance in this homecoming would be her sister and brother-in-law, Sonja (Blake) and Donald (Zeke) Wycoff, her grandparents, great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, and many other family members, too numerous to count, but most of all, that Man of Sorrow who knows our loss is heaven’s gain.

Way back in the day, on the 19th day of June, in 1938, Shelby was born in the small town of Carbon Hill, in Southeast Appalachia Ohio. From these humble beginnings, and raised in a God-fearing family, consisting of her parents, one brother, Don Blake (married to Patti), and one sister, Sonja (married to Zeke), Shelby grew in grace. As a result, Shelby set about living a devout life in service to others, as any pastor’s wife would. She was a devoted Sunday School teacher, Children’s Church leader, ran the church’s food bank for many years, and faithfully held the office of Secretary and Treasurer for the church her husband founded in 1970 and pastored until his retirement (The Peoples Church).

Through the years, Roger and Shelby raised three children who are all living for Christ and continuing this spiritual legacy. Lisa (Fidler) Hacker, married Tim Hacker and had two children of their own [Josh Hacker (Kasey) and Sonja (Hacker) Middleton (Matt)]. Through them, Shelby enjoyed five great grandchildren (Landon, Remington, Smith, Lennon, and London). Teresa (Fidler) Grove, married Michael Grove, and had four children [Erica (Grove) McDaniels (Kyle), Tara (Grove) Montgomery (Ryan), Jeremy Grove (Heather), and Tisha (Grove) Montgomery (Randy)]. Through them, Shelby enjoyed eleven great grandchildren (Ian, Rylee, Kaden, Caroline, Owen, Kamryn, Rory, Oli, Spencer, Henry, and Ripley). And Charles (Chuck) Fidler, who married Rebecca Faith Rich-Fidler, and had three children [Nathan Fidler (Chelsea), Nicolas Fidler (Jenessa), and Naaman Fidler]. Through them, Shelby enjoyed two great grandchildren (Flynn and Wrenn).

Shelby’s spiritual legacy lives on in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as the countless souls she touched in service to her Lord, but it is far from complete. It now resides in the hands of those countless souls which she played a role in their journey to The Father. All those whose lives were touched by her work for the Lord are now being given the God-ordained quest to continue this spiritual legacy, as the days are being shortened and the nights are growing darker still. Yet a life lived well, offers eternal hope. It is because of this that we do not grieve as those who have no hope, but live knowing … soon. Very, very soon. We shall see the King.

If you’d like to pay your respects, the family will gather for Shelby’s viewing at The Peoples Church at 30811 Lake Logan Road, Logan, on Sunday, July 6th, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM. Shelby’s funeral will be on Monday, July 7th, at 11:00AM with visitation an hour before, also at The Peoples Church. Shelby’s brother-in-law, Rev. Harley Fiddler, will be officiating. Her interment will be at Carbon Hill Cemetery, Carbon Hill. Arrangements have been made by Cardaras Funeral Home.
