Tom Zakel

Tom Zakel, 85, of McArthur, passed away Monday, December 2, 2024. He was born on July 6, 1939, in Cleveland, Ohio, son of the late Albert T. Zakel and Hildegarde Zoppelt Zakel.

Tom was a graduate of James Ford Rhodes High School and Dyke College in Cleveland. He served in the United States Army and Army Reserve. Tom was employed by Arnold Wholesale Corporation in Cleveland and Adelmann and Clark Inc. of McArthur.

He leaves his loving wife of 46 years, Ruthie Shimpach Zakel; sister, Hildanne (Ben) Polansky; brothers, Dr. Albert P. (Carol) Zakel and Richard M. Zakel; niece and nephew, Donna and Robin Radune; nephew, Frank Radune and many nieces, nephews and cousins. 

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his aunt, Hermine Zakel; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Radune and Donna Allison and niece, Judy Radune.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, December 6, 2024, in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Pastor William Roth officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.
