Virgil Wayne Davis

Virgil Wayne Davis, 79, of McArthur, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at his residence. He was born August 25, 1946, in Logan, Ohio, son of the late James Camden and Elsie May Richard Davis.

Virgil retired from Suburban Metal Products in Circleville. He enjoyed fishing, camping, coon hunting, working on cars and working with his friends, Butch Valentine at Maddox Concrete, Jess Danner at Saltcreek Township and nephew Gary Pritchard at Suburban Metal Products

He has always been about keeping things simple, his catchphrase came to be “it’ll do” he made the best of what he had and didn’t want for much. There is peace being content with what you have. He was the keeper of catchphrases that would make you laugh, we called them “Virgil’ism” It’s lean’n toward fishers hog lot” or “shoot the juice to’er louie”

We offer a debt of gratitude to special friends Poncho and Cheryl Ashmore who always kept an eye out for him. Virgil spent the last few years soaking in the beautiful view from his front porch with his rescue companion Shelby.

Virgil is survived by his daughters, Angela Johnson of Millersport and Sherry (Jerry) Koenig of Florida; grandchildren, Damon McCabe, Tiffany Arledge, LeAnn Johnson, Jerry Koenig and Justin Koenig; great grandson, Greyson Crosby; siblings, Murel, Wilma, Charles, Fred, Keith and Janet and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his foster parents, Doc and Babe Ebert and his siblings, Dorothy, Don, Paul, Linda and Michael.

A graveside service will be held at a later date in Ewing Cemetery in Washington Township, 17480 State Route 93, Logan, Ohio 43138. Arrangements are by Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur.
