Virginia Gail Mingus

Virginia Gail Mingus, 92, of Rockbridge, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2026, at her residence. She was born October 18, 1933, in Logan, Ohio, daughter of the late Aaron Gomer and Jennie Mae Altman Norris. Virginia was married on June 9, 1956, to the late John David Mingus.

She graduated from Logan High School in 1951 and went on to earn her master’s degree in mathematics from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Virginia taught for over 30 years at her alma mater, Logan High School, until she retired in 1992. After retirement, she continued to tutor privately for several more years. Virginia was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, LEA, OEA and NEA. She was also a member of the American Business Women’s Association for several years. Virginia was a lifelong member and minister of the Community of Christ Church in Logan, was a hospital chaplain at Hocking Valley Community Hospital in Logan along with being a member of the Hocking County Ministerial Association.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Mark David Mingus, Michael John Mingus and Aaron Matthew Mingus; brothers, Stanley Norris, Frank Norris and William Norris and sisters, Imogene Bownes, Delores White, Selma Phillips, Karen Wood and Elaine Hart.

She is survived by her daughter, Ginny Marie (Don) Sigler; grandchildren, Matthew (Laura) Sigler, Donald Ryan Sigler, Katherine Marie Sigler, Michelle Dawn Sigler and Erin (George) Brown; great grandchildren, Gryffin and Channing Sigler and Dorian and Declan Brown; brother, Terry (Margie) Norris; sisters-in-law, Susan Mingus, Mina Vore and Nancy Poches and brother-in-law, James Mingus. Virginia is also survived by Vicki Harden, Heather Mingus, Robert Harden, Brandon Mingus, Jayla McGlothlin, Chris Ryan and Andrew Harden.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, April 4, 2026, in the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, with her grandson, Matthew Sigler officiating. Interment will be in New Fairview Memorial Gardens, Rockbridge. Visitation will be held on Friday, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
