Walter Lowell Bolen, 90, of Nelsonville, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Kimes in Athens. He was born on November 30, 1934, in Hocking County, the son of the late Walter Alonzo Bolen and Letha Leola (Griffin) Smith. He was married for 67 years to the late Ruth Ann (Beal) Bolen.
Lowell was a retired Coal Miner from Meigs 31. He loved being outside and mowing, gardening, etc. He was a member of the Wesleyan Church. Lowell and his family greatly appreciate the staff and friends at Kimes and Kimes Hospice and wish to extend a warm thank you.
Lowell is survived by his daughters, Marty Bolin of Lancaster and Judy (Tim) Warren of Nelsonville; grandchildren, Kayla (Beidy) Sow, Michelle Bolin, Kari (Brad) Bell, and T.L. (Sabrina) Warren; great grandchildren, Django Sow, Kinsey Bell, and Brantley Bell; and brother-in-law, Max McGuire.
Lowell was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth; sister, Corrine McGuire; and brothers, John McGregor, Henry Morrison, Don Morrison, and Robert Morrison.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 12, 2025, at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St, Nelsonville, with grandchildren, Kayla Sow, Michelle Bolin, Kari Bell, and T.L. Warren and nephew, Rev. Steven McGuire officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home and 1 hour prior to the service on Monday.
