William Dean Howard

William Dean Howard, 96, of Nelsonville, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2026, at Kimes Nursing and Rehab. Dean was born November 24, 1929, in Nelsonville in the farm house he grew up in, to the late Edward Howard and Faye Barstow Howard. Dean was a proud Army Veteran who protected our Country during the Korean Conflict.

He attended Nelsonville Wesleyan Church. Dean taught Ag Mechanics at Tri County Vocational School. His students loved him and tried to absorb all the knowledge they could from him; there was nothing he could not fix.

Dean leaves behind his wife, Annabelle Lanning Sharb Howard; his stepsons, Joe and Georgiann Sharb, Vaughn Sharb, George Sharb and John and Lisa Lanning; stepdaughters, Theresa and Dan Long and Elizabeth Wright; several grandchildren, many more great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. A very special nephew, Kent Bateman, who he helped raise and several nieces and nephews.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Shirley Ann Wallace Howard; infant brother, Ivan; brothers, Lloyd and Millard; and sisters, Dorothy and Thelma.

Dean’s wishes were for cremation and no services will be held at this time. Arrangements are with Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette Street, Nelsonville.
